
Lahore: Mumbai assault driving force and Lashkar-e-Taiba tasks officer Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was condemned to 15 years in prison on Friday by a Pakistani enemy of psychological warfare court here in a fear financing case.
UN restricted psychological oppressor Lakhvi, 61, who was on bail since 2015 in the Mumbai assault case, was captured by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab territory on Saturday.
“The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore sentenced Lakhvi for commission of offenses of psychological oppression financing for a situation enlisted by the CTD for a very long time under various segments of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997,” a court official told PTI after the meeting.
Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar condemned Lakhvi to five years of thorough detainment each on three checks with a fine of PKR 100,000 (around USD 620) each on three tallies.
“In default of installment of fine, he should go through a detainment of a half year each on three tallies. He has been shipped off jail to carry out the punishments,” the authority said.
Lakhvi argued under the steady gaze of the court that he was “dishonestly involved” for this situation.
The LeT leader was blamed for running a dispensary and utilizing reserves gathered for psychological warfare financing.
“He and others additionally gathered assets from this dispensary and utilized these assets for additional psychological warfare financing. He likewise utilized these assets for individual costs,” the CTD said.
Strangely, Lakhvi was introduced before the Lahore ATC on Friday and was sentenced the exact day in the dread financing argument enlisted against him some time back.
The court was informed that Lakhvi, an occupant of Renal Khurd Okara area of Punjab, was living in Islamabad before his capture for this situation.
Lakhvi was assigned as a worldwide psychological militant by the UN in December 2008 for being related with LeT and al-Qaeda and for “partaking in the financing, arranging, encouraging, getting ready or executing of acts by, related to, under the name of, for benefit or on the side of” both the elements.
He has been in Kot Lakhpat prison in Lahore since July 2019. There are reports that he is given a “celebrity convention” in prison.
The UN has named Saeed as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, and the US, since 2012, has offered a USD 10 million compensation for data that deals with Saeed.
